# Torque Capital Group > Torque Capital Group is a private equity firm, founded in 2009 and based in Westport, Connecticut, that buys into and operates lower middle-market manufacturing companies in North America. It deliberately keeps a small portfolio (single digits) so the same small team works hands-on with each company's management, instead of spreading thin across dozens of deals. What the firm actually does: it takes majority positions (and, less often, minority stakes or joint ventures) in manufacturers — brake and friction parts, precision machining, cold-formed metal components, aerospace and defense composites, medical-device contract manufacturing, and similar industrial niches. Target companies typically have up to about $35M EBITDA, with investments up to roughly $100M per deal. The partners invest their own capital alongside every deal and stay involved after closing with operational support, hiring, add-on acquisitions, and growth capital. As of 2026 the firm lists nine portfolio companies: three current/active, three realized (exited), and three held as joint ventures or minority investments. This is not a passive fund. The model is "full-team investing": fewer companies, the whole team on each one, and patient, long-term ownership. ## Pages - [Home](https://torquecap.com/): Overview of the full-team investing model and the concentrated portfolio. - [Our Approach](https://torquecap.com/our-approach): What the firm looks for (industries, EBITDA up to 35M, majority investment up to 100M, deal types), who fits, and how the team supports companies after closing. - [Portfolio](https://torquecap.com/portfolio): The nine current, realized, and other portfolio companies, each with industry, location, and a link to the company. - [Team](https://torquecap.com/team): The three partners — Jonathan Saltzman (Managing Partner), Terry Culmone (Partner), and Anthony Vedella (Vice President). - [About](https://torquecap.com/about-us): Firm history (founded 2009, after the financial crisis) and operating philosophy. - [Contact](https://torquecap.com/contact-us): How to reach the firm; based in Westport, Connecticut. ## What they invest in - Lower middle-market manufacturing businesses in North America. - End markets: transportation, mobility, aerospace and defense. - Sectors seen in the portfolio: brake and friction, precision machining, cold forming, composites, motion control, and medical-device contract manufacturing. - Typical deal: majority investment, companies up to about $35M EBITDA, up to about $100M per investment; partners co-invest their own capital. - Deal types: platform acquisitions, corporate carve-outs, and family or founder transitions. ## More - [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/company/torque-capital-group-llc/): Company page.
